ankle dislocation/fractures

Last Sunday I severely dislocated and fractured my ankle in three places. Monday night I had surgery to put in a metal plate and seven screws. The pain is extreme. I was hoping that some one could give me some insight as to when to expect to feel somewhat better. Also, has anyone left the hardware in their ankles indefinitely?

Re: ankle dislocation/fractures

Hi I had ankle surgery on the 4th of september , 8 screws a pin and a plate . For the first 4 weeks it was extremely painful to hang my foot , so I had to keep it elevated .only when they removed the cast did I get some ease which was six weeks after . on the seventh wk they removed the pin and three screws because my ankle wasn't moving back and forth as it should , so today is the start of the 8th wk and i'm walking on it without crotches but with a limp . The rest of the hardware is remaining.
