Question Screw Removal

I am having the screw in my toe removed in about two weeks. I had a bunionectomy-fusion 3 years ago, and have no joint in my big toe.

My OS said the screw had detached from the rod in my toe, and will need to come out.

Would there be any chance of a bunion returning once screw is removed? I've seen that some people have had a bunion return afterwards. For me, however, would that not be the case since there is no bone there?

Thanks!
