It couldn't hurt to call your doctor to ask them the same question.
I had a cast on my wrist this year. After a week or so, I must have had swelling go down and I was suddenly able to move my fingers and the top of my hand around a lot. I worried it would cause too much movement to my wrist and impact my healing. I called and asked. They ended up having me come in so they could take a look at it and I ended up getting a new cast put on.
It could be that they tell you not to worry, but it is worth asking the questions so you know one way or another.
I hope you heal quickly. It is a tough thing to be going through.
