Ankle cast soft

I broke my ankle and tore some ligaments a week ago. My cast is quite soft around the toes area up to about half way down my foot I can move the top half of my foot quite freely. The cast is very strong around the heel, ankle and up my leg, I suppose where it needs to be. Is it ok for the area near the toes to be very soft, as I am thinking if I can move that part of my foot around so freely it may hinder my ankle from healing properly.

Re: Ankle cast soft

It couldn't hurt to call your doctor to ask them the same question.

I had a cast on my wrist this year. After a week or so, I must have had swelling go down and I was suddenly able to move my fingers and the top of my hand around a lot. I worried it would cause too much movement to my wrist and impact my healing. I called and asked. They ended up having me come in so they could take a look at it and I ended up getting a new cast put on.

It could be that they tell you not to worry, but it is worth asking the questions so you know one way or another.

I hope you heal quickly. It is a tough thing to be going through.
