Either an endocrinologist or a rheumatologist.

Wow! I really believe God must have lead me to read this thread, Kaitrin!

We have been stumped about Barb here too. This chiropractor she goes to scared her off her Fosamax. She's on Prednisone, which is a man-made bone killer. She takes numerous other meds. I've been at a complete loss as to what to do or where to turn next for her. After reading your reply, I searched our health system's site for either a rheumatologist or endocrinologist. I found one endo Dr., and his interest is osteo! I feel like now, we should get Barb to him and let him evaluate her meds, and get a good regimine of some kind worked out for her. I'm reading things on this site her nurse practitioner hasn't mentioned such as a liquid calcium instead of Oscal, and other stuff.

Her main problem is the back pain and catches which may not relate to osteopenia, but at least now, we can maybe get her on the right mix for taking better control over the osteo.

Thanks

Prednisone: At 78, I am a victim of being on it for years. My problems are not only osteo, but very thin tearing skin on my topside of my lower arms!
Beware.

Re: Which Dr. to go to?

yes...get to a good rheum or endo at once....the skin issue is also from the predisone.

you need a comprehensive evaluation and treatment .....not different people throwing in their opinion.......
