Just wanted to add some clarification to the above post. Exercise is terrific for osteoporosis because it can slow or stop further bone loss. Ideal exercises:
Weight lifting - find a weight you can lift 3-4 times but can lift no more after 3 or 4 reps because you're too tired. As your body and muscle strength improves, increase the WEIGHT not the reps.
Impact aerobic exercise - running, dancing etc. walking, swimming and cycling are not suitable.
