About ten months ago an untrasound revealed that I had a parathyroid adenoma. So far, my endocrinologist has just wanted to monitor it, doing an ultrasound every few months (to see if it is changing shape), and twice he has done a needle biopsy on it, but the results were negative. He doesn't want to remove it needlessly. The web says that 1 in 10 people have these "solitary thyroid nodules", and indicates the various criteria which would indicate they should be removed (size, malignancy, etc.). As long as he's not worried about it, I'm not worried about it.
