So, I am reading a lot of conflicting information out there about calcium and protein sources today: most research seems to suggest that diets low in animal protein are good in preventing acidosis and bone loss, but, then, it sounds like a number of vegan sources of calcium and/or protein (e.g., beans, nuts, soy, grains) are "worthless" or even detrimental because of their content of oxalates and/or phytates. (Apparently these compounds interfere with calcium absorption?) I am now wondering if these compounds could encourage my bone loss.
Does anyone have any experience or advice in this area?-
What kind of diet are we really supposed to have?! (So much conflicting information about calcium supplement absorption, too!- Yikes!)
I know that I need to max-out on my calcium and vitamin D, magnesium intake and, more importantly,
absorption right now... (All of us do, right?)
