| Re: Types of Calcium?
I take E-zorb, the bottle says magnesium and Vitamin D are not needed to aid calcium absorption, but I take magnesium and D anyway, I take the magnesium at a different time than the calcium as my vitamin company suggests. I took calcium citrate for a few years but it didn't work for me. On E-zorb my spine went from -.08 to normal, but my hip was a fraction worse from -2.3 to -2.4. I called E-zorb and was told by the rep to increase my dose to five tablets daily instead of four to see if my hip density increases. The rep also told me I didn't need any additional calcium with the E-zorb, even from food sources, but I eat three or four servings of calcium containing foods daily.
In addition, I changed my diet to include more alkalizing foods (fruits and veggies) and workout with weights at the gym. I'm due for another Dexa scan in November and I'll post the results.
I almost forgot to mention I took my first Vitamin D3 600 mg. supplement today, there is only 400 mgs. of D3 in my multivitamin, and since the fall is here in NY and I won't be getting much sun any longer, I wanted to get at least 800 mgs. of D3 that is recommended for bone health.
I met an old friend for lunch yesterday and he casually mentioned his wife is on Fosamax. I asked him if she has osteoporosis and he said no, she doesn't have it. When I asked him why she is taking it, he said because the doctor told her to. When I asked if she was informed about any potential side effects he said no, she wasn't aware of any! The conversation ruined my lunch, I was so aggravated about his wife and the Fosamax!
