Yes, many people have reported some weight gain from Fosamax, and from the other bisphosphonate meds, too (Boniva, Actonel). And yes, it has been reported that Fosamax CAN remain for up to 10 yrs, or thereabouts, in your system, even after stopping it. I believe the same applied to Boniva and Actonel, but I'm not sure how long THOSE meds can remain in your system, but I'm willing to guess it's for a long time, too
Actually, if the weight gain was the only side effect you had from the Fosamax, you're lucky. You can read about the side effects reported from patients on a site called ''askapatient''. You just type in the name of the med, and then go from there.

Years ago I was on Effexor and gained over 15 lbs..Took two and a half years to get it off...............Wonder how long this stuff stays with us. I was on Actonel for two weeks only and still feeling nauseaus and havent taken it for over a week..........
