Hi Taape: The clinical trials were completed already on Denosumab. They still have to do the post marketing surveillance *if* the FDA approves it. A new drug application is usually the last step before a drug is sold to the public. Who knows if the FDA will give the approval, but at least it isn't a bisphosphonate. It does have side effects like everything else, the main ones are infections, but very few were documented in the trial. Denosumab works on a protein that osteoclasts need to break down bone, so it stops that process allowing osteoblasts to build new bone. If approved it would be a twice yearly injection.
