what to do with severe ostoporosis even after having injection treaments with boniva for 2 years?

It sounds like these didn't help at all? Did your bone density improve at all? Have you been taking calcium and/or eating calcium rich foods?

I did 2 years of Forteo and got improvement but lost it all when I stopped taking it. I've been refusing bisphosphonate injections since and looking for another type of treatment.

I'm intereseted in whether you noticed any side effects to the Boniva like bone pain or stomach irritation or anything else.

Yes, does why they change it to injections. My t score for hips from -3.2 got better to -2.8 but my L1 to L4 from -3.2 got worst to -3.6. I take 1200 calcium, 1600 Vit.D, Vit.K and prescribe vit.D 2 x a month 1.25 mg. What kind of treatments are you looking into? I know too that boniva for long periods of time are not good with all the other side effects. With the injection sometimes I will get muscles aches.

The oral bisphosphonates caused me stomach irritation and I've already got a problem with my stomach so I couldn't take it. My doctor recommended the injections but I have not agreed to it and probably won't. I was afraid of the side effects and the fact that the medication stays in your bones so long that if you have pain, it may be for a long time.

I'm not sure what other medications I'm looking at but I go to a University hospital where they do clinical trials and know about the latest, newest medications being available. I'll let people here know what's recommended after my app't in February.

I'm glad your hip T score got better. I don't know why some people have improvement in one area and not the other. I don't think the doctor know. Are you planning to continue with the Boniva?

Well this Friday I hava a shor appointment at the hospital for boniva. I won't be able to see my doctor until March, the reason that I know the results of the test bone density is because I always ask for a copy of any test I need.
She really want me to stay on it, she likes this medication. She also talked about a new one that you only have to injected once a year. I forgot the name but I would let you know if I found out. Thank you for responding and sharing this with me.
