Fosomax side effect - Osteoporosis Message Board

Hi,
I have been on generic fosomax for about 2 months and have had some muscle pain in my hip or seat area....I guess you would call it

anyway it has been kind of painful to sleep at night and when I sit in the car. Is this something I should tell my doctor about. I know the paper work that came with the precription mentions muscle pain as a side effect. I just don't know if it's something to worry about or not. It kind of feels like I have over worked the muscle by exercising, but I know that isn't the case becasue it has lasted about a week so far. Has anyone else had muscle pain from it.

I would let your doctor know that your having side effects. Then you can decide if you want to keep taking it.

Okay, thank you. I just wasn't sure if it's a serious side effect or not. So I guess I should let them know. It does feel a little better today after a week. Thank you very much I really appreciate it.

I couldn't tolerate Fosamax, it made my stomach on fire. So never took it long enough to see if it caused me muscle pain. What did your doctor say?

While I'm not permitted to mention specific websites, I can tell you that you can go to any search engine, type in something like ''bisphosphonate medication side-effects'' and you'll probably come up with plenty of info on this subject. Much more than what the pharmaceutical company listed in their print-out!
