All of my bloodwork came back allright, no celiac, so that is good. Dr has me taking 1200 of calcium and 2000iu of Vitamin D. She just got the dexa scores from ob/gyn that were taken almost 2 years ago and I don't think it's very good news.
My T-scores were as follows:
My hip and neck ones were fine = total 1.5
but the ones on my spine were scary to see these numbers=
L1=2.2
L2=3.2
L3=3.9
L4=3.5
She keeps wanting me to go on Actonel, I keep telling her I have issue because of the side effects specifically that I have gum disease and extractions in my lifetime are not totally out of the question, and the side effects I've heard about are just plain frightening. On the upside, I found out 2 of my friends are on it and have literally no problems, but I'm still skeptical. I talked about Strontium and she said she had never heard of it....
So I told her that I had done some research and it seemed as though Calcitonin, was a less strong medication but with almost no side effects. So for the time being, we agreed I would start on that. Our city has a wonderful facility that is a health and wellness center, I will work with a personal trainer on exercises geared towards a patient with osteoporosis. It's very expensive but if I get a doctors "prescription" it's only 50.00 a month. So the Dr. and I agreed to start with the exercise program and Calcitonin.
She's willing to work with me for the time being, so I guess I'm ok with that. Any thoughts?
