Interconnection between inner thigh and sciatic nerves

Hi There.:)

I have extreme muscle spasms on my right inner thigh througout the day and whenever i have a massage there is always deep pain as if a muscle wants to snap.Would my sciatic nerve be slightly damaged as this problem is ongoing for the past year?Would continuous massaging over a long period of time loosen the muscle from the nerve if at all its twisted to the nerve or is this problem exclusively related to my lower back pain.

Thank you kindly []

Hi,
The sciatica pain I have is on the outside of my hip and down my leg and down the back of my leg, I don't have it on the inside. I use massage because I can't take medications for pain and it loosens up my tight muscles since I get massage weekly.

I think it would be a good idea to go back and see your surgeon or your back pain specialist and ask these questions.

Also, do you have osteoporosis?

Hi Taape,

I too have some sciatica pain on the outside of my right upper thigh, which sometimes shoots down into my calf. I take Motrin which helps somewhat. I also walk an awful lot, almost every day for an hour and a half (sometimes more). Maybe I'm overdoing it, but I do it for my bones. I don't take any prescription meds for that, just calcium citrate, magnesium and Vit d3. And omega 3.

Cheers,

I haved the EXACT same issue on the right side of my body and NO BACK PAIN with it. It began just recently while dancing! I have applied heat, and I have been drinking water constantly. I am not using massage therapy, but I am doing stretching exercises and lifting small weights(I am under 5' tall and slender and a senior). Seems to be working. Pain dissipates when I use the leg. The longer I sit or remain inactive, the harder it is to get up and moving.

Montesfluss,
So you can tolerate Motrin? Your stomach isn't bothered by it? I wish I had an antiinflammatory to take but my stomach gets irritated.Walking is good weight bearing exercise if back problems keep you from running. Lots of times the sciatica I have is from my back out of alignment which PT can fix and then alot of the pains go away since fixing the bulging discs is major surgery.

Hi Taape,

Yes, luckily for me I can tolerate Motrin. I think my pain originates from a compressed nerve. I haven't had any scans done, though, but I'm familiar with the feel of nerve pain.

Keep well,
