| jogging with osteoporosis
just wondering if anyone has any comments with regard to jogging/running after diagnosis of osteoporosis? I developed a stress fx of my tibia back in may triggering an order by my dr to get a dexa scan which confirmed osteoporosis of the spine (-2.8) and osteopenia of the hip and femoral neck (-1.8, -1.6). I rested the legs for the last 3 months and yesterday had an mri which showed my leg had healed. This morning I started jogging again. ( i told myself that i would only do 3 miles to start off with but ended up going 4 1/2....i find running very therapeutic and find it hard to limit myself but know that i need to start off slow). well anyway...does anyone think or know of any reason that i shouldn't run? don't want to do any extra harm but don't want to stop it if i dont have to. what do you guys think? thanks alot!
