Vit D and high serum calcium?

Hi, I hope I'm on the right board.

I was wondering if it is safe for me to take 2200 u of Vit D3 every day, or even 3x a week. My vit D level was 40 six months ago. My doctor at the time thought that was pretty good. But I read so much about taking lots of vitamin D nowadays and that maybe the reference values are too low.

My concern is because my serum calcium levels tend to run high, between 9 and 10. I had them done several times in the last year while ruling out a parathyroid problem.

Does vit D raise serum calcium? I did have a kidney stone years ago, and I sure don't want another one! I also have osteopenia which got a lot worse in the last two years. Thanks for any info!
