I have celiac could help cause bone loss, as can Crohn's and other diseases.
If it were me, but then I am a against drugs if I can help it, I'd not risk taking Fosomax or any drug when you are so young.
But I would take very special care to do everything else you possibly can to help your bones.
Like, weight baring exercises, exercises in general.
Also I'd take enough of a good calcium with enough magnesium and Vit D and other minerals, plus a multi-
vitamin a day.
Then, I'd take a few other alternative options too.
I am taking and doing the above (well, I will be doing the exercises on return from vacation) and I am taking:
10 mg of Vitamin K (to help the calcium get to my actual bones) and Ipriflavone (which the Japanese really believe in for osteoporosis) - not sure how much yet, have to double check that, the one I got is 22 mg... I am also going to take Omega Fish Oils on return from vacation. (Reason not taking now is that
I have Crohn's and don't want to risk taking anything new yet and I have a bad back so don't want to risk putting my back out now)...
I am also trying to eat lettuce twice a day, can't eat enough green leafy veggies becos of my stomach but I would if I could...I have Yoghourt, and try to eat healthy for my bones.
Some on this board take natural progesterone, but you are so young, I'm not sure you need it yet.
Whatever, I wouldn't sit still and do nothing....
Good luck. Stay on top of it ...find a good
rheumatologist or osteoporosis doctor specializing
in what you need. Best of all, find a good alternative/complimentary medically-trained doctor.
