Have you had this symptom? - Osteoporosis Message Board

Hello,

My name is Lucian and I have a question I would like to ask you all.

I am interested in finding out from the people affected by osteoporosis whether they feel any pain in their bones when spending time in an air-conditioned room, or in a ventilated space.

I have this problem that when i enter a place that is air-conditioned, it only takes about 5-10 minutes to feel a pretty deep pain in all the bones of my body. The more I stay in there, the more painful I feel it. And it also affects the control I have over the body, I can still move very well, but not as well as when I am in a non-airconditioned room (ie: in open-air space). So I feel ok when I am in an open-air field, in a room that is not air-conditioned or ventilated in any way - just in a natural air field.

I don't know what affection produces this symptom... i have had problems with calcium in the past, so i thought it might have to deal with Osteoporosis, loss of bone density. At the same time I am thinking that this might have to do with a Rheumatic diseas.

So this is what I want to find out... whether Osteoporosis gives you this kind of symptom.

sounds more like osteoarthritis to me

Lucian, Don't know if osteo. could cause this, but for sure fibromyalgia and "rheumatism." Check out the other health boards for more infor on these two conditions, fibromyalgia is especially interesting, and not being able to tolerate drafts is a hallmark complaint among fibromyalgia patients. As far as I know from my reading, osteoporosis is pretty "silent" until a bone breaks. In other words, you don't feel a thing till then. That's why it's so insidious -- you would never know you had it without a bone mineral density test. So most likely, the pain you are feeling in air-conditioned rooms is something else.

You know you can do exercises easier after a warm-up or after a hot steamy shower, well, maybe it works in reverse too?! When a room is colder and your muscles are colder, they are not as pliant.

I'm not sure this is to do with osteo but I think it probably happens to everyone in one way or another, worse for some.

Someone told me I was lucky to have had a frozen shoulder in the summer, better than having it in the winter, this someone whose name I have forgotten said to me, and I believe it. Easier to do my exercises
than when cold.
