I'm a newcomer! - Osteoporosis Message Board

Hello Everyone,
I am a newcomer to this. I'm 46 yr female and have had several back surgeries, I have osteoporosis -2.6 which has caused a couple of compression fractures and I also have a digestive disorder which makes me unable to take fosamax and actonal which I believe is the cause of my digestive disorder. I take calcium and try to eat right. I was just wandering if anyone else has had these type of problem's and if so is there any insight you might want to share? I'm also willing to share my experiences with anyone who needs it. Thanks look forward to hearing from you.

Yep, I have gastritis endlessly it seems so anything I take I have to consider what effect it will have on my tummy. Actenol, when I've taken it didn't bother my stomache much and I haven't tried fosomax as yet. My scores are -2.75 lumbar, and -3.7 hips. So far so good, only have had a couple broken bones in the foot! I take the supplements and try to eat calcium enriched foods and exercise faithfully at least 4 times a week.

I took actonel, which didn't seem to bother me a whole lot, 4 doses of that, slight indigestion and burning. then I switched to fosomax, 1st dose like to kill me and each dose got better and easier, though I had it beat, then 5 days after 4th dose, it like to killed me. I am just getting over "I hope "the problems it caused. I thought I would die. I stopped all meds except for calcium , I switched to oscal? Hopefully that is a good one?
