| Drugs - male vs. female and changing meds
I'm a 61-year-old male who was diagnosed with osteoporosis one year ago. I've been taking Actonel (weekly) since then, with no ill effects, other than I have more back aches than I did before. My first question is whether there is a study that shows which medication is best suited to men.
My other question is whether it is better to stay with a particular drug over the long term instead of switching. I ask because my health plan will allow me to receive Reclast at no cost, and it would be a lot more convenient to receive a yearly infusion. Of course, I'll ask my doc, but I'd like to do some research beforehand. Thanks.
