bone pain

I am at risk for osteoporosis, because I am taking the Depo-Provera and it takes the calcium out of your bones. I have been having bone pain. When i bend my knees, and then straighten them to walk or stand, i cant step and my knee gives out, it is very painful. Sometimes I also get pain in my finger bones. Any information would be really helpful. thanks

Re: bone pain

HI caslove, welcome to the board . The best advice i can give you is to suggest that you go see your doctor and tell him all the things you are experiencing. Make a detailed list of whats going on that includes the questions you want answered and be sure that he answers them to your satisfaction. You may also want to ask for a DEXA scan to see if you are heading towards osteoporosis.

Painful joints aren't usually a sign of osteoporosis. Have you read all the info that came with the depo-provera? Are painful joints listed as a side effect? Hope this helps, take care, phyllis
