I was injured at work in November of 2009. I fractured my T12 vertebra. The Spine Dr. first tried rest and a back brace. Then in January of 2010, just a couple months later, I had a procedure done called Kyphoplasty where they inject a glue like substance.
I also had a full fusion of my L 3/4 & L 4/5 in July of last year.
What did you actually fracture, and what part of the spine was involved? I was in severe pain, especially when I tried to walk, and this led to pain in my lower spine that required the more serious surgery. I also found I have Osteoporosis which is probably why I fractured so easily.
I have no idea how I got the fractures but my doctor gave me an xray which showed fractures, then was given an MRI to confirm it, mine don't cause pain, and it's at 3 levels in the T spine all spread out. I have osteoporosis but I still don't know when I got the fractures.
With Osteoporosis you don't always know you have a fracture. Sometimes when you go in for an X-ray or MRI they will see it, if the Osteoporosis is the reason for the fracture. Are you taking any medication for the Osteoporosis, and calcium tablets?
Yes, I've been on medication for 4 years and am taking calcium and doing weight bearing activities. I have lower back and neck problems but my fractures are in the T spine so sometimes when I'm badly out of alignment my T spine area hurts but I'm not sure it's the fractures causing the pain. I'd rather skip invasive procedures if possible.
