Re: looking for current info on treating with strontium

HI Jilly, welcome to the board / What would you like to know about strontium? There are several threads about it you can read by putting "strontium" in the search box at the top left of the page. If you have questions just ask, we'll do our best to answer them for you. take care...phyllis

Re: looking for current info on treating with strontium

i see nothing current when I put strontium in the search box. I wanted to confirm that posters were still using it and still considered it a good alternative to bisphosphonates. i have decided with my doctors to wait a year, do another scan, before reconsidering actonel. having read the older posts on strontium, i am considering it on my own. i am 51 with osteoporosis in my spine (-2.7) and osteopenia (-2.3) in my hip. otherwise healthy. thank you so much,

Re: looking for current info on treating with strontium

HI Jilly, i wasn't sure what you were looking for when i posted, but now that i have an idea i can give your more info. I've been taking strontium citrate for almost 5 years and have seen good results in both hip and lumbar spine scores. Your scores are similar to what mine were when DX in 2006. I have had 2 scans since then and both times there were gains, hips almost in the normal range and spine in osteopenia. I'm due for another scan later this summer and hope to see even better scores. I've had no side effects and feel that it is a safe alternative to the drugs now available. I've been taking NSI Strontium the whole time. Its proven to me to be effective. There are several others taking strontium on this board so you should get more feedback. take care...phyllis

phylwill,
Is it a tablet or liquid? Do you think it would irritate the stomach?

Re: looking for current info on treating with strontium

HI taape, the NSI strontium i take is a capsule about an inch long. I haven't noticed any kind of stomach upset. I guess the only way to know is to give it a try and see how it effects you. take care...phyllis
