Hi - It is not a bisphosphonate but the mechanism by which it works is similar, so the risks may also be similar. It is a monoclonal antibody, a totally new class of drugs, which initially gave me great hope, but hearing that the chances of jaw osteonecrosis are still present scared me away from the stuff. From what I've heard it is a twice yearly injection which apparently is unaccompanied by the flulike symptoms associated with the bisphosphonates. I'm amongst the legions who are thriving on strontium.
