Talking Passing on Dexa scan

Hi all, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis a few years ago through a Dexa, and my personal care doctor suggested another one now. I talked with my rheum, who pointed out my inability to tolerate bisphosphonates and other meds, although I took forteo a while back, and now take Calcitonin with no side effects. My rheum said that since I haven't had any broken bones, and at my age, given the limitations of corrective drugs I can take, he is advising against a Dexa at this time. I see him frequently and trust him, and am frankly relieved.

Re: Passing on Dexa scan

HI shewolf, it sounds to me like you have a wise doctor who is looking at the big picture rather than a bunch of scores. He's a keeper and you are lucky that you found him. Have a great day. take care, phyllis
