Re: Can i jumping rope while osteopenia?

Hi plzzhelpme, welcome to the board . I do have a question for you, at such a young age why did your doctor order a DEXA? The -1.6 is close to normal and being so young you have plenty of time to improve your score. I did some checking and jumping rope is an exercise you can do for your bones. It is an impact exercise and impact is good for the bones. You can do some research online and find out more about exercises that will help keep your bones strong. My only suggestion would be to do it on a softer surface rather than concrete. Did your doctor tell you what supplements you should be taking like calcium and vitamin D? Good luck . take care...phyllis

Re: Can i jumping rope while osteopenia?

Hi Phylwill, sorry about my late post

At 1st, I want to thank you very much.

My doctor order me to do a Dexa because I had TAHBSO 5 years ago, I was shocked. My doctor tell me that I must taking at least 1200 mg calcium and 1000IU vitamin D supplement per day, and also ask me to take Fosamax but to be honest, I don't want to taking this drug, i heard ppl say about side effect of this drug, So now i only taking 1200mg calcium from milk (Anlene Concentrate) and 1000 iu vitamin D supplement. Hope I can build my bone back to normal again.

P/s: sorry about my bad English.

Re: Can i jumping rope while osteopenia?

HI plzz, your English is fine, is it your second language? Your -1.6 isn't that bad, you are right to question his request to take fosomax. With exercise, good diet and supplements and you should be able to improve that over time. Have you been on hormone replacement since your surgery? Have a good week. take care...phyllis
