Hi texaschex, i am on total thyroid replacement and like turtelady said if the your dose is right for you than the bone risk factor diminishes. It may take a few tries before you find the right dose. I hope your doctor told you not to take your calcium at the same time as the synthroid. space them out by at least 3 or 4 hours hours. Taking them at the same time will prevent the synthroid from be absorbed properly. Its best not to take supplements at the same time. I take mine first thing in the morning when my stomach is empty. take care, phyllis
