newly diagnosed osteo...

Had spinal pain and neck pain for the past six months. After repeatedly nagging my doc for a DEXA scan, i got it done last week. Tests show spinal is
-3.1 and hip is - 1.9. and i am only 45. went through Hysterectomy 2 years ago.

Doc says i must take Fosomax right away. none of the allopathic meds suit me since I have an extremely sensitive stomach. If anyone can let me know of alternative homeo or ayurvedic otc med, it would really help. i am confused and scared. have been taking calcium, vitd and womens one a day supplement.

non-smoker, vegetarian, no colas, and try to walk 4-5 times a week. completely ignored the doc's advice of weight lifting regime. now paying for it.

Please help. any advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Check out the supplement strontium citrate which is available online. Also read the book, "The Myth of Osteoporosis" by Gillian Sanson that may give you some perspective on the situation. I am unable to take any of the osteo drugs. I was told I had this about 12 years ago. Still haven't broken anything. I take calcium, vit. D, magnesium, etc. and exercise 6 days a week. Don't let the doctors frighten you into taking a bisphosphonate like Fosamax. Do the research on it first so you can make an informed decision.
