HI RiderJen, the form of vitamin D used most often is D3, which is closer to what we get from the sun. Before starting on your own call you doctor and ask what dose you should take. The Mayo clinic recommendation is 1000mg. a day for women over 18, but he may have a different dose in mind for you. After seeing the next set of results it can be adjusted if needed. Take into account the amounts of D in the foods you eat, your multivitamin and calcium supplement.
I like D3 in the softgels, but don't worry to much about the brands. take care, phyllis
