I just found out 2 months ago that I have osteoporosis caused from a vitamin d deficiency. I see a doctor for it in about 3 weeks and I admit I'm a little nervous. Out of all my medical conditions this one has me scared the most. One thing I've been wondering is my hunched back, over the past year my hunch has seemed to be getting worse & I hate it. I'm 21 years old with a really bad hunched back. What I was wondering is what can the doctors do to help fixed my hunched back or what can I do? I've tried standing up straight & sitting up straight but after about 5 minutes my back starts to hurt really bad. I've heard surgery is a option but I'm afraid to have that cause it's very risky from what I've heard. I was wondering if a back brace or something would help? I've searched all over the internet for this but can't seem to find a answer so I was hoping maybe someone from here could help me?
The vitamin D might help. But, since your skeleton is close to full maturity, I wouldn't wait too long.
Find a good spinal surgeon and see what he says. If he has any suggestions other than surgery, such as exercises or braces, try it. If he recommends surgery, get at least one more opinion before you go through with it.
