| | DXA Scan Results - I'm only 38!
I'm 38 and in generally good health except for my neck pain I've been having for 10 months. I had gone to several doctors but nobody knew what it was until one doctor figured it out. I have a c1 c2 subluxation and instability. They need to fuse this using my hip bone. The surgeon that is going to be doing the surgery in two weeks wanted to take a bone density scan and he says I have osteoperosis and I might not fuse. So he wants be to see a specialist before the fusion to see what the cause is. Is this really that bad? He said he's a neurosurgeon and not sure about osteoperosis and not an expert in that area....so he wants me to see one before the surgery. How bad am I? I don't like dairy and I haven't excersised in about a year because of my neck pain. Could that have affected my bone density?
I had a DXA scan and my results are as follows....
L1 - L3 -2.2
L1 - L4 -2.9
L2 - L4 -3.2
upper neck -1.4
