Discomfort in shoulder after running long distance
I went to an orthopedic surgeon last year for a shoulder problem and he basically said I have tendonitis in the rotator cuff. When I orginally injured it I couldn't lift my arm above my head the next day. I let it heal on its own. I went through 6 weeks of physical therapy the following year because I didn't have health insurance when I originally injured it. My ortho along with my physical therapists said they are pretty sure I just tore a rotator cuff muscle and not a tendon. My range of motion was just too good to have a torn rotator cuff tendon.
Recently I have been trying to get in better shape and I have been jogging 1-2 miles a day. I notice if I run pretty hard after a while I will feel discomfort in my right shoulder. My guess is the constant movement of my arms/shoulder from the running motion is causing some friction with my bone and tendon causing some tendonitis. The discomfort is only there when I am running the last 1/4 mile. After I finish the run and I walk around the discomfort disapears.
My ortho told me to keep up with the physical therapy @ home after I successfully finished 6 weeks with my physical therapists. I brought my "bands" back home and I have nowhere to put them so I stopped doing the exercises. I guess this post was basically meaningless because I really answered myself. However, if anybody has any other suggestions or wants to comment feel free.

Hi there! At least wanted to welcome you to the board, and I think you did kinda answer your own question . Oh, to run again, like I did before all of this...I used to love it!! I would run 5 miles a day after working/commuting to Manhattan every day, it made me feel great! No such luck now.....anyway, welcome again and good luck with your shoulder! Love, Surgical Disaster
