| Re: new to methadone
Meth doesn't have the euphoria, or it doesn't continue to cause euphoria the way hydrocodone does, But managing the pain is not about how the med makes you feel, It's about anelgesia, and you don't need to feel high to obtain pain relief.
Meth is 5-10 times more potent than morphine where Hydro is equal in strength to morphine. Meth has a half life from 20-30 hours so each dose you take builds upon the previous doses, If it doesn't feel strong enough the first day, do not increase your dose the second, Half the dose from day one will add to the next doses for up to 5 days
.On the 3rd day you have 1/4 of the dose from day one, half the dose from day 2 and the full dose from day 3, this continues for about 5 days. After 5 days your serum level will stabalize by taking the same dose every day for 5 days and you will have a better idea of how much pain relief your getting.
You should get about twice the relief on the 5th day that you got on the first day. That's why you don't want to increase it from day to day , you have to stabalize a serum level and then evaluate how much relief your getting. If you asociate relief with euphoria, you won't be to pleased with meth.
Good luck, dave
