Re: oxycodone/hydrocodone equivalence
Oxy is about 50% stronger mg to mg than than Hydro
30mgs of hydro= 20mgs of oxy instant release.
20 mgs of hydro is equalt to about 13.5 mgs of oxycodone instant release.
These come from equianelgesic charts that are just guides for doctors to make switches from one med to the other without causing harm or skyrocketing your pain. It's ballpark converting, safe to use the numbers but not a gaurentee to recieve equal pain relief because everyone reponds to different pain meds differently.
You may need a little more or you may be comfortable on a little less. But safe and ballpark is about the best they can, due to the wide variations in response to meds. 40 mgs of hydro may not manage you pain but 15 mgs of oxy may do great. It doesn't follow the conversion to a T but any time you switch meds, small adjustments are usally required even when your in the right ballpark.
Good luck, Dave
