Dr. agrees with the boards; will get treatment for adhesions-

Saw my Dr. today and asked if scar tissue could be causing my abdomnial pain. After poking around some and having me sit up while putting pressure on different area, he thinks that is it.I hope that with treatment, this will get better. However, I have to go to the pain center at the hospital/clinic where I see him to get it done, and I'm not sure when exactly they will call me, so it's not over yet. But he was sure that was the problem as it was pretty painful in a couple of areas.

Also, after some explaining to the charge nurse, I was able to get my Oxycontin split into 2 scripts for next month,so I'm covered there.I told the Dr. about my first of the month medcaid problem, and he did split the scripts, but offered no solution to always having to refill around the 1st. I keep hoping one month I'll have enough break-thru meds to cover the gap,but I never do.

Its good to hear you may be figuring out where the pain is coming from. You didn't say what kind of a treatment plan you'll be on. If it's surgery the problem is the adhesions come back and sometimes they're even worse. I'm glad he gave you 2 scripts, that should make things a lot simpler for you. I don't really understand your medicaid issue as I'm in Canada and things are a lot different up here. Good luck with everything and let us know how it's going.

Re: Dr. agrees with the boards; will get treatment for adhesions-

I am curious as well regarding the type of treatment you are receiving for your adhesions. I suffer from Interstitial Cystitis along with adhesions which were recently discovered. I have heard of some type of physical therapy which is suppose to help adhesion sufferers and am extremely interested in learning anything about this type of treatment.

Yes, adhesions can cause extreme pain as well as a host of other problems, unfortunately I had my adhesions cleaned out via a lapro 3 months ago and can already feel them returning. I have been praying a great deal lately asking God for help and healing as I found myself simply becoming overloaded in dealing with both diseases..

I am sure some of you can relate and have days where you dont think you can put up with the pain and discomfort a minute longer...This board helps tremendously when I find myself overwhelmed and discouraged more than you know! A big thank you to all for sharing your experiences and your valuable advice.

Re: Dr. agrees with the boards; will get treatment for adhesions-

Adhesions should be my middle name. I have had numerous surgeries for them and they come back with a vengeance each time and get worse with time. Now no one will touch me with a ten foot pole other than to treat with meds. Pelvic adhesions can/do run deep(at least for us women) and glue all kinds of organs together creating a total mess in there. There was a study done not too long ago in the U.K. (first of it's kind) that proved adhesions themselves have nerve fibers thereby causing pain in and of themselves, not just by glueing organs together and pulling on things they should not be pulling on! It really changed they way a lot of Dr.'s view the whole problem. And it is a major problem. Surgery breeds more surgery when it comes to adhesions...that is the catch 22. It stinks. Until they can come up with a cure, I will stick with the meds before I am worse off than ever. My heart goes out to anyone with this problem.....it really is awful and debilitating.....Love, Surgical Disaster
