Percodan vs. Percocet vs. Norco

Can someone help me with the comparison of these meds, My brother just had ACL replacement surgery and has been taking 2 10mg every 4 hours. Its not working for him very well. He took this amount for about 8 months prior to this sugery. He also had an orthroscopic surgery on this same knee 6 months ago where they found nothing wrong. The new MD went in and it was obvious to him that the ACL was toast.

Anyway, his surgeon wants to switch his meds from Norco to perocdan or percocet (not sure of which one). Can someone explain to me the differences in stregths. The MD is opposed to stepping up to a LA med like Oxtcontin.

Thanks!

EDIT-- Just spoke with my brother and he got Oxycodone 10/325. What is that and is it any different that Norco 10/325??

Re: Percodan vs. Percocet vs. Norco

Oxycodone is the narcotic in percocet and percodan. Norco is hydrocodone. I have tried both and found the norco worked better for me. But everybody's body is different. oxycodone did nothing for me.

Re: Percodan vs. Percocet vs. Norco

Intresting, bilbo, amy...for me it was just the opposite. I found excellent pain relief from Percocet, and very minimal from the Hydrocodones. It's so interesting and everyone is different. Let us know what winds up to be better for him. That's what counts!
Best,

Re: Percodan vs. Percocet vs. Norco

He d*****etly got much more pain relief from the Oxycodone. Took it at 2pm and slept until 7pm. I suppose this was because he had not gotten much sleep while taking Hydrocodone and he was in a lot of pain. So far so good.

Re: Percodan vs. Percocet vs. Norco

Just wondering?
Could it be that Percodan works better for some people because it contains aspirin which has anti-inflammatory properties, while Percocet contains acetaminophen (Tylenol) which does little for inflammation?
