was just going over the FDA medwatch site,and ran across this bit of news.Since I know there are some folks who are indeed taking this med,I didn't know if you were aware of this latest black box warning that was just added to Avinza

This came out as of 11/3 that they just added a black box warning to Avinza regarding the use of any sort of alcohol or even alcohol containing products like cough syrup...For some reason,and as far as I could see this only affects avinza specifically,and no other MS time release meds,that when it is mixed with alcohol,from any source,that it can trigger a sudden and full release of the contents possibly causing an overdose of MS.this is on the [url]www.fda.gov/medwatch/[/url] site if you care to check it out.Just an FYI for those who need to know.Marcia

That's why they pulled palladone.Anyway,if anyone is taking avinza then they definately shouldn't be drinking.......Dave

I totally agree that anyone taking any sort of narcotic should not be drinking but you know that some still do.also this warning covers ANY alcohol whatso ever which specifically stated even the small amount of ETOH that is found in cough syrup could also trigger this as well.most people wouldn't even think or consider taking cough med the same as 'drinking' alcohol so,ya gotta cover all the bases.marcia
