Prescribed Avinza, need advice - Pain Management Message Board

I have a herniated disc, and have been on lortab 10, 3 times a day. My Dr. prescibed Avinza today, havent taken one yet, but was wondering how much stronger avinza is, compared to the lortab? Any side effects?

Hi Ann: I haven't taken it personally, but I have been on opiates for several years and I'm on Methadone right now. Avinza is Long Acting Morphine. Does your doctor have you on twice a day dosing? It's related to the Lortabs, but quite a bit stronger.

Only once a day, 30 mg. also gave me Ultram for BT pain. I took the ultram today, and couldnt really see where it did any good, maybe i didnt give it long enough to work

I am tkaing avinza for my post heperatic neuralgia(sp) from my shingles. It has been working great for me. But i take a much much stronger does. I take 90mg in the morning and 90mg at night, but i came form 100mcg fent patches, so that is about right. See if u can get it twice daily, the coverage is much much better twice daily, even though it is techinicaly a 24hr med, my doc has me 2x. I dunno, works great for me, is very very smooth, and doesnt like "kick in", which may be a difference for u comming off lortab and the euphoria from it. Works good for me but our bodies all react very differently to different meeds. And what is ultram? is that and oppiate? what schedule? thanks.
