Smile Big Update!! (Thanks for help)

Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for your prayers, kind words, and suggestions.

My husband and I went to see my PCP today whom I have know for 6 years and I brought my records from the Pain Mgmt. doctor which I got this morning as well as a documented letter to my PCP about the events that have happened since June when I first saw the PM doctor.

After she read the letter, we spoke about the course of treatment that was provided for me and that the lowest I ever got with my pain on a good day was 6-7 range and that this was not an acceptable way to live my life. My records from the PM also showed that I have written and discussed my shoulder/scapula pain since my first appt. on June 14th. and that they never addressed this issue. It also showed that the only reason they said they were through treating me and took me off all medication without an appt. with the Dr. or even speaking with him on the phone, was because of my surgeons comments about abusing his prescription (which I showed her the proof that I did not) and that he was concerned because I even needed medication upond discharge from the hospital after having major surgey (gee, I guess I'm a wimp HA ) on my neck since he doesn't take medicine. She thought this was ridiculous since that is a usual protocol for patients to go home with medicine for post-op pain.

The other thing in my records is that the PM spefically sates in October that he will work with my surgeon for a "long term" approach for my "post-operative pain magagement". This is exactly what the evil NP Ms. Feeney said they don't do and the one who accused me of wrongfully taking the prescription in the first place.

****A very interesting twist to this is the "missing" prescription from Nov. 18th when I was in NC was actually written by NP, Ms. Feeney when all other scripts were by Dr. Hassassian for my entire treatment. Ms. Feeney is the one who accused me of lying about this prescription and continued to do so up to this point. Well, I spoke with a woman named Pat who takes down the refill information and she told me today that Ms. Feeney specifically told her that the prescription was in her own office on the 18th, and there is no way that I could have picked it up but for them to go ahead and have Dr. Hassassian write another prescription (why, i don't know) and that she will DESTROY the other one herself. It was for 5/325, 75 tablets!!! First, why would she have to destroy this and write another when if she had the script, she could have given that one to my husband that Monday.... And, no one saw the prescription or saw her destroy it said this woman Pat. HMMMMMMMMMMM

Makes you wonder???? So, she has been the one to call me a liar and get me out of their office. Well, I am definitely filing a complaint with the VA medical board about all of this since I have all the info in my hands now and can disprove any accusation they have with my documetation.

So, lessen for all to keep perfect records of your appts, what has happened, even phone calls.

I am so happy to have my PCP on my side and when she actually looked at my shoulder undressed,( first Dr. to do this!) she couldn't believe that they haven't treated this or got any x-rays or MRI's . She gave me a script to continue the Cymbalta which has been helping and for Percocet 7/325 to last for a bit until we find out more. I will let you all know what happens with the Ortho tomorrow.

Thanks again for all your help and support!!! It's been so wonderful to be able to come here and "vent" or get cyber hugs, and great advice to help me keep going and manage the pain.

Hugs to you all ((((( )))))
Ingy

Re: Big Update!! (Thanks for help)

Glad it went well Ingy! I've had lots of trouble over the course of getting my chronic pain diagnosed so I know how you were feeling! And how relieving it is to finally have a doctor that understands and is on your side! Good for you! I hope everything works out for you and you find out what is causing all your pain and a way to fix it!

Tina

Ingy, I can't imagine anything worse than trying to defend yourself when the staff has it "in for you"! I've been in a similar situation and it seems the more you try to prove your innocence, the guiltier it makes you look. I can hear the relief in your post now that you have a doctor who is really listening to what you have to say. I would follow through with writing the letter to the medical board with a carbon copy to the doctor where this happened. Then I think I would have to just let it go!! No use making yourself sick over it. It will only serve to raise your blood pressure....if this administrative person or nurse is "highjacking" scripts, she will be found out in the end. Take care - KathyMac

Re: Big Update!! (Thanks for help)

I have also had problems with the "office help." I found in some of my records that I had gotten upset with one of the old gals in the office of the pcp I used to see when she questioned me about one of my scripts. She was a real ------. The whole matter was over the fact I had not received my script in the mail that she was supposed to have mailed out to me. She had not done this and when addressed with the matter, it came out to look like I was being a "problem." She was nasty with my pharmacist too.

So unfair that they can write things about us in our records to make it look like we are in someway a problem patient, but they don't tell it all like it really is. Everybody has bad days and I am a forgiving person to a point. If you won't tell on me I won't tell on you.

Ingy
I was following your thread and I just have to add that you deserve an apology and your good name restored. After all that you've been through with the surgeries and all, I can't believe that you were treated this way. I'm glad to hear that your pcp looked at this situation and saw through all the BS and gave you some help with your pain. Please continue to try and get your medical records corrected, because you don't need this following you forever.

I, also, wanted to know how you found out the state's requirements in treating pain? This would be a good thing to have and if need be, take along to doctor's appts.

I hope you get the shoulder pain taken care of and good luck with your future family.
