Pain Dr in Seattle - Pain Management Message Board

I am in the process of moving to WA state, Seattle area and was wondering if anyone could reccommend a good PM doc in the Seattle area. I hope to find one that can continue my treatment with the Fentanyl 25mg patch.

If no one recomends one to you, just do a Google search for pain doctors+Washington and you'll get several in the Seattle area. I've done the search myself, but live on the other side of the state. That way you can contact one in the area you're going to be living.

I go to the pain clinic at Swedish. They are affiliated with the UW so they do alot of research. I see Gordon Irving who is the head of the department. He is very nice, understanding and seems to be on top of things. I have also seen Dr. Taylor at the same clinic. He specializes in accupressure and Eastern type procedures. I've had some kind of electrical stimulation, magnets, accupressure and even warm rocks in his office.

Unfortunately, after 3 years I still don't have a diagnosis and Dr. Irving still has not encountered anyone else with my problem.(pain in my lung after pneumonia) He vowed to bring my case up at every conference he went to but so far...no luck.

I only go there once a year but they seem to be on top of their game. They do injections and blocks(had both) and have no problem with prescribing opiates.

Hey Mush: Are the docs prescribing your opiate pain meds? I live on the other side of the mountains from Seattle, but you never know when I may have to make that 250 mile trip to see a pain doctor. I just wondered how often they require you to come in for an appointment. Thanks.
