Hi all, should i be having headaches from the avinza, it is at the base of my scull and usually starts at about hour 18 or so... Is this because the morphine is leaving my system? I don't know if i should try taking it earlier to see if this will prevent my headaches?.. I have only been on it for 4 days and switched from 6 norcos a day.. The 30mg of avinza is not close to cutting the pain down, I am still taking 3 norcos per day for the b/t pain... Thank you for the help...I am so happy there are other people in a similar situation. My poor wife tries to understand but just can't, at least now i can relate with others.

Hey Dub-
Many of the opiate/narcotic pain medications can cause rebound headaches. I'm not saying that's what you are experiencing, but it is a possibility. You've pnly been taking it for a few days now, so it could just be your body adjusting to the medication as well.

You could call your doctor and ask them if this is normal, and you can also check back here because someone will probably have more information than I can give.

My dr. was surprised I wasn't getting headaches. He said I was lucky. Then again..Nitro pills don't give me a headache either. I am very lucky.

I have 2 problems with avinza...I can't swallow when laying down and I itch all
over. The swallow thing happens at 90mg.

Is 30mg what he started you on? I can't remember what myinitial dose was.
I want to say it was either 60 or 90mg a day.

Good luck with it. You have lots of company out here. Avinza doesn't always cut my pain. My highest dosage in one day was 180mg. Still didn't cut it.
Used 100mg of demerol and still had pain. Oh well......best wishes...hope yours stops the pain.
