If you were on Avinza, and changed to another med.,what is it?
If you were on Avinza and your doctor changed you to another med for pain relief, what med did your doctor put you on? And if I am not being too personal, what dosage?
One of the reasons I am asking is that I seem to get a rash about an hour after I take Avinza. And I itch all over. I don't know if it is the avinza, but if it is...and I have to get off the avinza, I was hoping to have some ideas ahead of time. (As I sit here scratching my forehead) and chest.

Hi there - You may want to ask Ozzybug. She's a poster who is currently on Avinza and is having an allergic reaction to it. She's seeing her pain management doctor today and plans on posting later this afternoon. Hopefully she'll read your post and will have some good advice for you! In the meantime, I'd call your doctor for advice. It sure sounds like you need something else for pain. KathyMac

KathyMac, thank you....I have an appointment with my PM&R in an hour.
I will ask my doctor, but was curious to see if anyone else had enough problems with it to change. Some people seem to take it at 12 hour intervals. I tried that and it didn't seem to make a lot of difference.
More fine tuning I guess. It seems like I heard one person state they switched to oxycontine. 3 time a day. Maybe I misunderstood. I will check with Ozzybug.

It might have been me that you read switched from Avinza to Oxycontin. I was on Avinza on a 12 hr sched - 120mg twice a day. I felt it was making me too groggy and affecting my mood, so my PM doc switched me to OxyC. She was goign to put me on 80mg 3xday but I told her I'd like to try 60mg tid and see how that went. So far so good. The transition was really easy for me. I stopped the Avinza one day and started the OxyC the next. I think I did feel a little withdrawal from the Avinza, but nothing that noticeable.
So, that was my experience. I hope you can find a solution that works for you!

Mainecoon66- -I think it was you, my memory is shot.
I am now on 90mg at 8am and 90mg at 8pm. If that doesn't do it, we will try changing the meds.
I may say this wrong,but I think the dr. is saying he feels Avinza is a stable med that he can predict. Hmmmm, I think that is it.
He said several other things but I can't remember them. The wife went me --
she represents adult supervision. If I can think of anything else that pertains to this thread I will post it here tomorrow.
