Question whirlpools help anyone ??

Just a question...I have found that if I go to my brother in laws house and use his jacuzzi I get quite alot of relief. I take pain meds and muscle relaxers but the jacuzzi helps also ... kind of a silly question but since I can no longer work and money is totally tight in our household I was wondering if insurance co. ever absorb some of the cost of home whirl pools if it is theraputic for the person ...??

Re: whirlpools help anyone ??

Queen-
I doubt they would. Insurance companies (mine anyways) seem to be trying to cover less and less these days- even for medical neccessities it seems, all the while raising their rates. I pay well over $700.00 a month for our coverage and got a letter not too long ago that they are changing many things, and to no suprise, I'll end up paying more out of pocket for lots of things....urghhh Oh, but they did throw in that I can get 1 eye exam a year for $15.00. Whooopieeeee!

I wish you luck in finding an insurance company to help pay for a whirpool. I'm not saying it will never happen, but if you find one that does, please let us know!

Lezlee

never in a million years...

but i agree that a hot jacuzzi helps.

when the pain is horrible and i need a few minutes of lower pain levels nothing beats that feeling i get when i float in a very hot jacuzzi.
too bad it only helps while your in it.

OOOOH YeaHHHHHH,
They certainly help relax muscle and being in water seems to decompres weight bearing problems. I've seeen comp pay for strange things like gym memberships rather than continued PT once you stop making notable progress in PT, but never a Hot tub or jacuuzzi.

My parents had a nice one installed before my moms TKR and it's been a lifesaver for all their aches in pains as they are now aproaching 65. MY mom starts and ends her day in that thing and It makes the 4 hour trip bearable knowing some relief is waiting.

Now that we all know about your brother in laws, were crashin his house tonight. a little barbacue would be nice, maybe some fressh fruit and ask him to turn down the heat a bit in the summer, I'll be there.

Like computers, the prices of basic portable hot tubs has drasticlly fallen to the $800 range and you can take them easily with you when you move. These aren't the fanciest ones in that price range, but there is something about water, boyancy and those bubbles that makes it worth while. I just had a small windfall and was seriously looking at them but my computer went and these days if you don't have a computer for your children it puts them at a huge disadvantage at school or has you driving to the library quite often. So we went the computer route, but this keyboard isn't doing a thing for my back. LOL

Take care, Dave

I remember climbing into our Hot Tub and how good the heat made my knee feel. The muscles relaxed and for a couple hours ambulating was easier.
