Is this site still active? I sure hope so. I have RSD, 7 back surgeries, fusion, adhesive arachnoiditis and I'm being put through so many different pain medications because I'm beginning to swell up (retain fluid) on the Dilaudid I was on. I was on 8mgs. (highest dose) and 720 a month of Dilaudid. That was 24 per day. Yes, it's an extremely high dose, but I can't use the pump because I form terrible scar tissue and that cancels me out as a candidate. The surgery to place the pump could make things worse. So they tried me on Oxycontin/Oxycodone...they didn't help at all AND they were showing up in the toilet bowl after I went to the bathroom...they were NOT "shells" like the manufacturer said, they were solid pills! I've tried MS Contin, the patches which worked but I became allergic to the tape!! Demerol shots...OUCH.........demerol pills which didn't help....and I'm calling my doctor tomorrow to tell him that this Oxycontin is worthless. I was hit by a truck going 45 mph while I was at a red stop light after my 7th back surgery, and that is why I am in so much pain. I'm told it is called "irretractable" pain meaning it will not go away, they can't fix it, and it will only get worse. I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has tried any strong pain medication that hasn't caused them to retain fluid. That's the problem now. I put 10lbs on in 24 hours....no exaggeration. My diagnosis is Full Body Edema and it's not cardiac related. They think my vascular system is becoming sluggish so the fluid is leaking out into my tissues. I'm very thin, however my organs are now very dehydrated although there is a ton of fluid in my tissues. I'm miserable......I'm pleading for some help from someone. Thanks for listening. Kendra
