I'm getting very severe pain on my left and right sides not to mention right in the middle of my back, Nothing works anymore. Currently I'm on 100 mcg Fentanyl patch and 30 mg Roxicodone for bt.

I can't take the pain and I don't know what to do

Hi Alan

I'm relatively new to PM and don't have any ideas that might help you. For that I am very sorry. I just wanted you to know that my thoughts are with you. Hang in there and I'm sure somebody will come along and be able to help you.

Rosa

Re: Pain getting worse every day

There's no way you could change pain management physicians?

I mean you say your Dr. won't prescribe OxyContin, but he prescribes you Roxi (obviously we both see the hypocricy here). He seems like a real piece of work - just because it has a bad rap with abusers does not mean it's going to be abused by everyone.

I'm sorry Alan, I really feel for you - I couldn't afford pain management anymore, so I'm left with nothing. I hope it works out for you.

Re: Pain getting worse every day

You need to call your Dr and make an apt right away for next week this is silly to sit there in pain like that. You need to get on some new pain medication as the patches are not working for you and you have not been satisfied with them the entire time you have been taking them.

I am on on oxycontin and it works like a charm for my pain. I take 2 40mgs tabs twice a day and percocet for BT pain and some days I don't need them at all but I can take up to 6 a day.

Have you tried Methadone? I have heard it works well for nerve pain and general pain. since percocet does work for your pain I think you should come right out and ask your Dr for them. Just tell him the perccoet works well and you would like to try the ES version of the medication and if he's not willing to prescribe them to you, mention you will need to find another DR and you really DON'T want to do that as you will have to start all over again.

There are several other pain meds you have not tried and its time to be FIRM and tell the DR your pain is NOT under control... good luck to you wolf, I hope you can find the courage to tell him what you want and go from there as I know you would very much like to be on Oxycontin and I think it would really help you. That is to bad your Dr is so freaky about it your not an abuser and have done a good job following your contract so this is absurd. but like you have said in other post, he DOES prescribe it as you met someone in his practice who takes it so he is lying to you. Just tell him you want to try it and be firm and look him in the eye and push him if you have to. I hope your pain gets better as the day progresses it sucks to be in pain on a sunday when you want to be out enjoying yourself.

Re: Pain getting worse every day

Alan-
I am so, so sorry your pain is increasing this way. I think it's awful for anyone to have to endure this kind of pain with not even a small amount of relief.

If your pm doctor won't listen to you and help you, please, please try and find another doctor who can.

In the mean time, if you have to, go to the ER and have them treat you "in-house". No, they won't be able to give you a written scrip to have filled, but there might be something they can do to help ease this pain for a while.

If your pm doctor has an emergency/after hours number, try calling it and let him know how bad you are hurting and tell him you need help immediately. Maybe he will be ok with you being treated in the ER.

Take Care, and again, I am so sorry this is such a horrible situation you are enduring.

Lezlee
