Gabapentin and Venlafaxine - Pain Management Message Board

I just read an article and it was taking about new meds for pain management. The article said it may lesson types of nerve pain. Has anyone here used either of these for nerve pain? When you ****** these nothing is mentioned about using them for nerve pain. Thanks

I'd also like to hear others experience with this combination of meds.

I know Cymbalta is advertised to help with pain and depression.

Hi Katirina

Gabapentin is for nerve pain even though it doesn't say so on the info. I take Gabapentin for nerve pain associated with RSD(reflex sympathetic dystrophy) for me it is a very good drug for nerve pain. Some people differ and like the brand Lyrica instead. I don't what Venlafaxine is though.

Although Neurontin (Gabapentin) is actually used in treating seizures, doctors do use it "off label" for treating nerve pain. I too use it for my saphenous neuropathy. Once it had time to build up in my system to a constant level, it really showed improvement in my nerve pain. I had to get over the sleepiness, but once my body adjusted, I was glad I kept giving it a try.

Ozzybug, I just started Gabapentin 2 weeks ago. I'll start 3 doses tomorrow, 100 mg.

Is this how you started the med and how long did it take for you to notice relief?
