Oxycontin Question

anyone with knowledge about Watson's discontuning generic OC.
My Dr. specifies brand on my 80mg. I get 120 per month. These are paid for by workmans comp. due to a work related situation. sometimes however, my card won't pay and I have to pay and submit for reemburisment.
I have him write 2 scripts****1 for 100 and 1 for 20. This way if it doesn't pay, all I have to come off the hip for is 20, untll i can get the issue resolved with the ins. co. Since Watsons product hit the market, i have tried them in the above situation with acceptable results.
As i was told, Teva and all others will no longer be available.
What do you know about this, and the company that will be manufacturing the generics? Pharmacyist told me the name but I can't remember it.
Ok all you experts*******LET ME HEAR FROM YOU

Oxycontin Question

Hi Rexx, I checked the FDA electronic orange book, which is a list of companies that curently have legal rights to manufacture particluar drugs. Purdue, Impax and Teva are still listed as manuafcaturers of LA oxycodone. I also checked the TEVA sight and it's still listed. I checked the endo sight and it's still listed in their product line. I'm not sure where the best source of up to date info is after doing numerous searches. I can't confirm or deny what you have been told. Endo is no longer listed as a manufacturer at the FDA sight but the Endo site says they still make it. There could be bottlles wharehoused and distrubeted by wholesalers across the US even though a manufacturer no longer makes the product. I also checked the watson web site and they don't have LA oxy listed as one of their generic products??

Sorry I couldn't be much help.
Good luck, Dave

Oxycontin Question

I certainly don't claim to have near the expertise of Dave.

I do know that I picked up my script of 180 Endo on Wednesday from my local Target where I get all my meds.

Last month it was Watson....

Oxycontin Question

Hi there,

I got my prescription filled for generic Oxycontin (Oxycodone) at Sam's Club yesterday, and it was the Endo version....

I talked with my pharmacist a month or so ago when these posts started coming out about the lawsuit, who is the head one there....i am in Northern Virginia and it's a very populated one....and he has not heard nor recieved any literature on the discontinuing the Endo or other generic versions....

I have only recieved the Endo version of Oxycontin and then my generic Percocet is from the Watson pharmaceuticals company...

Keep in mind that with lawsuits....sometimes it takes years for the judgments to actually be upheld with lots of appeals as well and like Shore said, there could be warehouse's across the US, etc. that have the generic brand stored up...

So...I wouldn't worry too much about it....You said you get the brand name, right? I am suprised that your insurance/workman's comp decided to pay out for that instead of the generics.....Mine always wants me to use generic, but it's not a workers comp thing so dont' have any experience with that...just curious......I think there will always be a version of the generic Oxy out there since it costs the insurance compaines so much less...

Blessings,
Ingrid

Oxycontin Question

I just had mine filled at CVS and it is from Endo Labs. What I found interesting in another forum is the ingredients in these generic brands. Some people argue until the cows come home that there is no difference. Well, I for one say there is and this post backed it up. In a nutshell it said there can only be + or- 20% difference on the ingredients. Some say thats just the filler ingredients not the active ingredients. well this post explained that the active ingredients can be different so long as they affect your body the same way. I think this should be illiegel. I used to be on percocet 10/325 and the only one that compared to the pain relief I got from brand was Endocet. the ones from watson and other manufactures were very diiferent in the strength. This should not be legal. I will try and hunt this post and copy it as it had a link to some very intersesting info. As far as the Oxycontin this is my first time being prescribed it so I cannot compare it. Best of luck! Mudbone..
