Any shoulder surgery people? - Pain Management Message Board

Good morning all........I think and hope I have a temporary situation. Was injured at work a year ago. Neck, shoulder , lumbar, knee and ankle. Have been the route of injections and PT. Neck was doing better all but the left side, which is the side of the injured shoulder. All that showed up on the MRI was a severe impinged rotator cuff. After one year I finally had surgery 3 weeks ago. When the surgeon went in he couldn't do it arthroscopically since he found 10 bone spurs and a 2 inch tear in my rotator cuff that didn't show up on the MRI so he had to cut. I have pretty good ROM but the pain is unbearable. Since starting PT of course it's worse. I am med sensitive so have a really ahrd time taking pain killers without suffering nasty side effects. I need some help on being somewhat comfortable. Can't sleep at night because i can't get into a comfortable position. I ice and heat all day. Also aquired a bad case o fvertigo since the surgery so am nauseous and dizzy most of the time. ANy suggestions for some comfort?

Hey ICC I saw you were a shoulder painer too. I was hit by a car while directing traffic and my shoulder took the blount trauma of it. I had to have mine cut open 16 inches and have 9 screws and a plate to fix 4 breaks and a dislocation. Just to let you know they say shoulder surgery and pain can be the trickiest and most painful joint pain you can deal with. Since you are sensitive to pain meds I dont know what to tell you to take but I will pray for you and hope you find some relief.

thanks copnpain....in the light of your surgery mine is nothing. I have multiple cervical problems too that are acting up because of all of this. Thanks for the prayers. Right back at you.
