Pain Med's stopped and now paying for it

Been having a tuff time with my pain since I quit my Med's . I been trying to deal with it by relaxing on the couch but I'm tired of just sitting here doing nothing , went walking the other day and now I'm in so much pain again..It's driving me nut's , I'm scheduled for a Trial SpinalCord Stimulator for pain tomorrow morning at 7:50 am . I hope I get relief from it. I don't want to go back to the oxycodone or Morphine ever again but I'm affraid I'll need them for night time . I had a hard time for Dr.'s to refill my scripts after my Painmanagement Dr. left the area. So I quit cold turkey . (NO FUN )

What does the normal person do to ease the pain when it's around an
8-9 on the pain scale ? I'm just about ready to head in the ER for a shot of anything. I tried a hot bath but no help. Thank's for the help .

Shawley

Hi Shawley,
I was thinking about you today! I knew your stim trial was tomorrow, and I was wondering how you were doing.
If I were you, I would go in to the ER, Its going to be hard enough for you to sleep tonight, I know how long you have waited for the stim trial, and if you are up all night, pain spiraling out of control, you arent going to be able to tell if the the stim is working for you or not!
A LOT of folks on this board have done exactly what you did, got so tired of the pills and waiting for the next dose or refill that they went off them completely, I am sorry to say most of these 'experiments' went the same way as yours, peopla realized they were still in horrible pain, and as bad as they thought it was on the meds, it was better than suffering 24/7.
Maybe the stim trial will work great for you, I hope so, But in the mean time, I would try and get a doctor to address your pain. Can your wife take you into the ER? Let us know how you are doing, and please let us know how it goes tomorrow!
Hugs, Fabby
PS~ Do you still have any of those hydros you had? those and a heating pad would probably get you through the night

It has been a while since I have heard about you. I was following your story on the back pain thread. I am so sorry to hear that you are still experiencing pain. Just a couple of questions. What and how much pain medicine were you on prior to quiting? How long did it take you to wean off? How was the withdrawal? Were you in pain? What were some of the symptoms? Just curious...I wish you luck! I plan on reading up on you after I post this.

Re: Pain Med's stopped and now paying for it

Onyxgates --I was on oxycodone 15MG twice a day and 30MG Morphine when I quit . Sure it was hard , the withdraws were horrible , I couldn't even talk right , slobbering mixing words , I couldn't hold my head up for 3 day's and the crap's were out of this world for 3 week's and my pain in my leg's and feet were almost unbarable . My tummy rolled /growled like crazy . After a while I just felt so much relief and felt warm and happy. Sound's gay huh ? But it's true I felt so much better. I'm on Hydrocodone 10MG right now but only take it when it's really bad. I got my spinalcord stimulator trial yesterday and it took the pain out of my legs and feet . My back is hurting really bad now but I assume it's from all the needle's they had in me.

I hope I helped you.

Shawley
