Doc put me on oxcycodone (10Mg cr) along with other meds, getting forgetful, anyway I always write everything down, when I take it and so forth, so everything in noted & I can keep track of times, I count the meds in bottle to double check, well yesturday was first day out in about 2wks, I was out & about, had tests, I wrote all morning meds down, come evening I took the oxy and forgot to write it down, wrote down when I remembered, come night I counted and 2 extra were missing, freaked me right out, did not know if I accidently took extra and would have had to be in 3-4 hr time frame, in such a hurry yesturday, but honestly could not remember doing that, did not sleep all night worried, means I would have taken 4 10mg,cr total for that day, I hate meds & fear them, my husband was so mad this morning he wants me off them. Feel like an idiot. Never will that happen again, I have been so careful. I will always take the time to write it out right away, still afraid, wouldnt I have felt it if I did? I was so scared. Sick of all these meds, but pain is so bad. My daughter has friends around all the time to, all though they are kept in my room , they will now be put in location only known by me & my husband, don't know what to think! So upset. had to take my dose this morning to get out of bed & move around. How long does this stuff stay in you system anyone know? Scared to take my normal does today. I am so mad, I am going to double document everything from now on.
I think if you took too much and were going to have a reaction to that, it would have happened already.
I think whats likely is that you mentioned there are a lot of people in your house that could have gotten ahold of your meds. There is an epidemic in this country of teens abusing their parents or others prescription meds.
I keep my meds in a small fire proof safe, a gun safe or a small one for papers will work, Mine is bolted to my closet, but even loose, it should deter a nosy thief.
Get one of those plastic day of the week med dispensers, fill it once a week and keep it in your safe. Then all it takes is a quick count to know how many you have taken that day.
And count your blessings that you only lost a few, many people have lost a months supply before they realized there was a problem, and then have to make that horrible decision to tell the doctor or not, and most of us have it right in our contracts that stolen or lost meds will not be replaced for any reason.
Now that you know there is a problem with the way you were doing things, you can take steps to protect yourself and your meds.
sammy, just a huge suggestion for you to help eliminate this 'did i or didn't i ' issue?buy an actual med tray type thing and place all of your days worth of meds in each little section, believe me,we have all been there wondering if we took or didn't take a particular dose at some point.having this all layed out for us really makes remembering this sooo much freakin easier on everyone.this also prevents having to go back to the bottle and dump it all out and sit and count everything out.all it takes is a simple glance into that days med section in the tray, and you can pretty much tell either way, right on the spot as to whether or not a dose was taken.it really does help me,alot.so many of the meds we have to take just mess with our heads sometimes, having this part of things under some level of control takes alot of worry away and you wont have to scare yourself half to death all night worrying whether or not you did or didn't ya know?you can find a whole bunch of different types of trays at any drug store.just go buy one, they are pretty cheap and they pay off big time in just knowing.good luck sammy, hope this helps.marcia

Thanks guys, excellant tips, I do know the exact amount I had so that is very upsetting, never had to put anything money, meds etc... away before, like I said don't know all my daughters friends real well (she just turned 21), and how disappointing, we are such honest people the thought makes me sick to think someone would do that. Will not happen again, of course after that scare I will organize them as suggested, (Have ADHD) so real disorganized & forgetful as it is. I love this having you all, honest don't know what I would do, hopefully I will learn all these things about taking this kind of meds. Made enough mistakes already, and Yes I do believe these med are not helping my memory, for a fact. Scary. I will look for a med tray today. Thanks so much!
I agree with the gals, it sounds more likely that someone took the two pills instead of you taking them. I would surely think doubling your medication you would have in fact felt increased side effects that Oxy is so well known for.
As a parent we try to trust our family members and their associated friends but I've learned long ago that it's poor judgement to do so. As mentioned, if you are going to stay on this med or any long acting medication invest in a safe and only take out a small amount at a time and keep that hidden as well. I know it seems extreme but through trial and error and many reports on this board it is all too common for individuals to want to take our medications for their own reasons be it taking it themselves or selling it on the street.
Additionally the potential dangers of someone taking such a medication who may not be opiate tolderant is great, there would be nothing worse than someone losing their life because we were not responsible for our medications and didn't keep them secured. We shouldn't have to do this, but sadly society today has mandated this.
Best of luck to you
